William Greenleaf Eliot Residential Community was established in 1998. It was named after William Greenleaf Eliot, one of the founders of Washington University in St. Louis.

Danforth House, Shepley House, and Wheeler House were all dedicated in 1998. Danforth House was named after Elizabeth “Ibby” Gray Danforth, Shepley House was named after Ethan A. H. Shepley, and Wheeler House was named after Burton Wheeler. Today, our residential college is affectionately known as WGE.

Danforth house consist of modern two-person suites (also known as modern double) and an adjoining bathroom with another two-person suite. Each student will have a: XL twin bed frame and accompanying mattress; a three drawer dresser; and a computer desk and chair. The suite is carpeted and a shower curtain is provided.

Danforth house provides a kitchen and laundry on each floor. There are available study spaces, music practice rooms, and a main computer lab. Students will be responsible for providing their personal items and toiletries.

Shepley House contains modern four-person single suites, with each suite having a shared living space and bathroom. Each suite contains: a XL twin bed frame and accompanying mattress; a three drawer dresser; and a computer desk and chair. A shower curtain is provided for the bathroom and the suite is carpeted. In the shared living space there is a couch, couch chair, coffee and side table provided.

There are kitchens on each floor and a laundry facility in each building. There are study spaces and music practice rooms available, laundry facilities, a main computer lab, and a multipurpose room. Students will be responsible for providing their personal items and toiletries.
