The name Millbrook comes from the combination of David Millar’s and Robert Brookings’s surnames. David Millar was a WashU graduate. He was the mayor of University City from 1933 to 1937 and a prominent St. Louis lawyer. Robert Brookings was a St. Louis businessman and WashU Board of Directors president from 1891 to 1928. Brookings Hall and Brookings Quadrangle both are named after Robert Brookings.
