Scorch on the Porch
Each semester, the residents of Brookings gather on the porch between the two halls to enjoy the day and each other’s company. The event has been going on since Brookings was founded and with the barbecue, friends, music and sun, it has become one of the highlights of the year.
Making the Grade
Making the Grade is a program where the residents get a chance to meet faculty members in an informal setting and form personal relationships. Professors who work with the Res College on a regular basis will answer any questions you may have about the transition to college, succeeding at WashU, and getting to know your professors.
Brookings Week
Brookings Week is a week-long celebration of the Res College, sponsored by College Council, Brookings Week features events every night. The week culminates, with Brookings Ball, a semi-formal in College Hall.
Brinner
Brookings Breakfast for Dinner is a favorite Brookings Tradition. Planned by the college council twice a year, Brinner draws residents out of their rooms and into the RCD’s apartment for a delicious and informal late night pancake dinner.
FUN FACT: Student entrepreneurship is highly valued at WashU. On the Danforth campus, Gregg House, one of the two Brookings Residential College Buildings, is home to the Student Entrepreneurial Program (StEP) Storefronts. One of the many programs run by the Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the eight storefronts are leased to student-owned and operated businesses. With additional businesses that operate outside of the storefronts, StEP businesses serve the WashU community through a variety of products and services.
