The Edwin C. Koenig Residence Hall, or Koenig House, is one of the original residence halls on South 40 and has stood for nearly half a century.
The Koenig name was attached to the men’s residence hall when it opened for occupancy for the 1959 fall semester; a formal dedication for the Edwin C. Koenig Residence Hall was held on April 28, 1962. The architects were Hellmuth, Obata, and Kassabaum, and the general contractor was the I.E. Millstone Construction Company. In 2005, the original building was replaced with a modern facility, the Edwin C. Koenig House, as part of the Liggett/Koenig Residential College.
Koenig House contains modern four-person suites with bathrooms in each suite. Each student will have a: XL twin bed frame and accompanying mattress; a three drawer dresser; and a computer desk and chair. The suite is carpeted and a shower curtain is provided.
Additionally, there are study lounges on each floor, a main computer lab, laundry facilities, a seminar room and a music practice room. Students will be responsible for providing their personal items and toiletries.
